For the second year in a row, the fabulous 6-year-old mare War Like Goddess beat the guys in the 1 1/2-mile turf stakes as she prepped for a return trip to the Breeders’ Cup Turf by recording a decisive 4 1/2-length victory Oct. 7 at Aqueduct Racetrack and giving trainer Bill Mott his fourth win in the stakes since 2018.
Off the victory, George Krikorian’s multiple grade 1 winner will try to improve on her third-place finish in last year’s Turf behind Rebel’s Romance and Stone Age , though she will have one less week of time to prepare than expected for the Nov. 4 test at Santa Anita Park.
